'Countryside Matters!'

Amazon
recommends the following books:-

Henry Brewis has a number of books available through Amazon. They are all on the subject of farming and take a humorous look at all that can go wrong. Laughter is good medicine and something that the farming community needs at this time. Particularly good is 'The Merry Peasant' with its wonderful cartoons looking at all aspects of farming life.

Not on the Amazon site at present but maybe available secondhand are "Funnywayt'mekalivin'" (also cartoons) and "Don't Laugh Till He's Out of Sight" a humorous account of farm life with cartoon illustrations.

On a more serious note is 'Development Matters - Christian Perspectives on Globalisation' edited by Charles Reed. This book is a collection of essays on international development, world trade, AIDS, global warming etc. It looks at the question of how globalisation can work to the advantage not the detriment of the poor of the world.

A collection of photographs taken last year at the height of the foot and mouth epidemic has recently been published. "Foot and Mouth: The Aftermath", by Ian Geering features photographs taken in Devon, Noth Yorkshire and Cumbria. It was launched at the Royal Show and formed part of the exhibition organised by the ARC-Addington Fund.

Mr Geering is a retired vet and his book sets out to show life behind the foot and mouth tragedy rather than being an account of it.

The book costs £19.95 and is available, post free, from the publishers at
Cobbs Wood House
Chart Road
Ashford,
Kent TN23 1EP

All royalties are being donated to the ARC-Addington Fund
