MIND

Incapacity Benefit

This article has been published by RSIN to raise awareness of MIND's response to the Goverment's proposed changs to Incapacity Benefit.

As you may know, the government's proposed changes to Incapacity Benefit were laid out in a green paper on the 24th January. Mind is working to gather the views and experiences of current claimants as well as all people who are involved in providing health, care or support services.

Here is Mind's statement on the proposed changes:

In addition to Mind's general concerns about the proposed changes, there are worrying implications for people with mental health problems living in rural areas: In many rural areas there will be a lack of employment and training opportunities, as well as care and support services. The long (perhaps prohibitive) distances that would need to be covered to access what is there, together with poor public transport, is another concern. I'm sure you can think of many more!
